Problem
Existing systems often lack integration, leading to disjointed processes and inefficiencies. Pilots face challenges accessing real-time aircraft performance data, and they must manually work with all data in paper format.
Research
Below are the areas I’d like to explore during the user research.
Goals
I want to understand:
- The patterns behind the pilots real time data process
- What are the pilots motivations behind the specific task
- How can technology have a positive effect on this process.
- What information and tools are available for pilots before and during inflight journey
Methodologies
- App and website analysis to discover what info on the topic does airlines and ground staff provide.
- Evaluation of the current process of pilots inflight work pain points.
- In-depth user interviews with pilots and ground staff to learn about the first-hand experiences.
- Secondary research on the current process of pilots inflight work
User Interviews
To get the full picture of experiences of pilots, I interviewed 6 people who has 4 to 5 domestic flight in a day and 18 hours flight experience in a day.
